Teacher’s and Student’s Grade XI Perception toward the Online Learning During Pandemic in Biology Subject at SMAN 8 Padang

Abstract

Online learning is an alternative to overcome the problems faced by the world of education during this pandemic. The role of information and communication technology is very useful for students in carrying out online learning during this pandemic, one of which is in learning biology. This research is a descriptive research conducted at SMAN 8 Padang. This study was conducted to determine the perceptions of teachers and students about online learning during the pandemic in biology subjects at SMAN 8 Padang. The research sample was taken using a saturated sampling technique for teachers where all members of the population were used as samples and stratified random sampling for students. The population in this study were all biology teachers who teach at SMAN 8 Padang with a total of 4 people and class XI science students at SMAN 8 Padang with a total of 90 people. The instrument in this study was a questionnaire for teachers consisting of 4 aspects and students consisting of 5 aspects. The research data were analyzed using percentage statistics. The teacher's questionnaire consists of 15 statements and the student's questionnaire consists of 18 statements. The questionnaire uses a Likert scale with 4 alternative answers. The questionnaire for teachers focused on 4 aspects, namely implementation, interest, motivation, and attitudes and responses, while the questionnaire for students focused on 5 aspects, namely implementation, interest, motivation, attitudes and responses, and satisfaction. The results showed that the teacher's perception response was 55.69% in the bad category and 56.55% by the students in the bad category. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the teacher's perception of online learning during the pandemic on biology subjects at SMAN 8 Padang is not good and the perception of class XI IPA students towards online learning during the pandemic on biology subjects at SMAN 8 Padang is not good.
